Malacca - Courtyard @ Heeren . Cafe @ Courtyard

12/31 (Mon)

We woke up pretty early in the morning, get ourselves a quick clean up and walked to Cafe @ Courtyard across the road for our breakfast. The first portion of the cafe doesn't look interesting with very dim lighting. However, the second portion of the restaurant is very attractive with a bright natural lighting from the open air structure of ancient building. Cafe @ Courtyard remains this by replacing the well with modern design, a small pool of fish.
We were early to catch a perfect table right beside the pool. Staff is attentive. We were first escorted to a table at our preference. Then, we are asked for coffee or tea. As usual, a hot coffee for me, and a hot tea for my mate. Food selection is limited but it was served fresh and warm. Eggs station is available too. Washroom is located at the end of the building.
We started from egg station, where my mate ordered for a poached egg and I got myself an omelette.
Then, he spotted a freshly served chicken rice. I said this is what I will call it a chicken rice. This is definitely a perfect serving. He got himself a second plate of this.
I had a mix plate of almost everything. I loves the captain toast the most, even it just a very simple toast of butter and sugar. I took for extra 3 pieces, at least.
Before we ended our breakfast, I spotted a kitchen's staff brought out this ... chinese yam cake? My grandmother is a master of making this, I like it since young. I went for a piece, with a little chili sauce beside. Not too bad actually.
There are actually yogurt and corn flakes as well but our tummy was already running out of space. We enjoyed our last cup of drink before we headed back our room, continue our dream. This cafe, is a decisive point encouraging me for staying in Courtyard @ Heeren again if we happen to revisit Malacca next time.
