Malacca - 就是要吃 . Calanthe Art Cafe

12/30 (Sun)

Calanthe Art Cafe is my all time favorite whenever I visited Malacca. I can skip the famous Nadaje just for this cafe.
What so special about this cafe? The main attraction is coffee! Not normal coffee, but a full list of Malaysia's 13 states's coffee. And yes, different coffee do taste differently. Having doubt on which to choose for? Refer to the menu. It explained clearly the way beans were roasted.
Again, this cafe is not on Jonker main street itself but it is within the neighborhood. It is located on Jalan Hang Kasturi, a street away from Jonker. The cafe was kinda pack on Sunday's night, the indoor seating were almost all taken. Yes, we seated indoor. We didn't want to have our dinner at the al fresco seating on the street as peoples busy passing by. The street was quite happening at night.
We were not hungry, hmm ... not too hungry. Maybe a main meal sharing for two with some sides will be sufficient for the night ... ... I hope ~ Again, a hot chocolate for my mate and an Ice Johor's coffee for me. Hot chocolate was thick in taste, with milky form and topped with coco powder. My mate gave it a pass as a decent cup. I chose a cold drink, an Ice Johor's coffee, mainly to clear off the after taste for hot chocolate and laksa. Johor's coffee was my choice as this coffee carries stronger coffee taste which is not easily diluted. It proved as an excellent choice.
For the main, I initially wanted to order the best ever laksa we had at our last visit. Yet, my mate wanted to try this Claypot E-Mee Laksa. Claypot E-Mee sounds fun, OK! Frankly, we do enjoy this. The laksa is thick with curry powder aroma yet at a very lenient spicy level . However, for some strange reason, I still prefer their Calanthe Laksa. Ish! Shall make another trip to try that.
Since we only ordered for a main, each of us chose another side dish to bite. I ordered for a Samosa which I really really likes and my mate ordered for a ... ... chicken nuggets (fried stuff hardly get wrong)

Samosa
Half eaten chicken nuggets
My lovely coffee escape ~
