DanShui - 淡水.終點

We got a very bad weather since we came back from 9Fen. Taipei's weather was dropping to less than 10Celsius at night. A day before we left Taiwan, we decided to enjoy our last journey to 淡水. However, we made our first stop to 士林官邸公園. It is famous for it's rose garden. We spend a quality time together in the park. We moved to DanShui after a joyful lunch in the park. We took a bus ride to 天元宮 from bus stop near train station. It supposed to have some sakura blossom there.  天元宮 It started to rain while we were on our journey to Danshui and got worst when we were at the bus going to the temple. The temple is planted with plenty of sakura trees. We were way too early to join the sakura season.  sakura in rain temple in sakura We decided to catch a cab straight to lover bridge instead of waiting for bus. Taxi driver was kind enough to show us the bus stop to go back train station. The rain was stopped for a while and started once over again. Guess t...

Taipei EAT - 台北, 吃吃吃

As there were plenty of stuffs we ate in Taiwan. I decided just lump sum majority of our Taipei's foody experience in a post and 9fen in another. Make my life easier ~ Lets start with breakfast, we settled twice at MOS for same food and once at McD. I prefer MOS though, can't get it in Malaysia sadly. MOS porky burger for my mate (he loves pork and going to turn to one soon) my peanut butter beacon burger with egg (superb!) can't leave without a hot coffee in morning eii ~ McD nothing great other than the pork sausage 杏子日式豬排(Anzu) Another queuing restaurant, and yes, its another Japanese restaurant. This time we going to enjoy deep fried porky. By the way, we queued for more than an hour this round, luckily we grabbed ourselves an afternoon tea before joining the crazy queue. Well, it worth the queue of course for once! The skin is fried to crunchy yet the flesh still tender and juicy. My mate got himself 3 rounds of rice, FOC!  ...

NOMURA, 野村壽司 - 超值體驗

I had been reviewing Japanese restaurants at Taipei for months prior our departure. 杏子and 屯京 were both easily decided. However, I was stuck at this sushi section for long, where I came across with 2 restaurants 野 and 野村. Nomura came from 野壽司, with the financial support of his fans, he opened a new sushi restaurant named after himself, NOMURA. He is one of the top sushi master in Taipei where this is the main reason I finally made up my decision on NOMURA. NOMURA is a very small shop cater for less than 20 guests. I placed my reservation through facebook, confirmed on 8Feb'12 (Wednesday) for their set lunch at TWD1,200 + 10% tax for 2 pax. Frankly, this is the most looking forward meal for this trip. We were both very satisfy with the serving and my mate even pointed this shop as the MUST visit whenever we coming to Taiwan again.  Came out from 忠孝敦化 station, I grabbed myself a thick jacket from Uniqlo before we continue walking for 15minutes to reach NOMURA. Cold weather we...

9Fen EAT - 吃在九份

Since we had nothing specific to try, we made our first stop at a fish ball shop where the most attractive part was they sell -> pork lard rice ^^ .. gosh ... no doubt my mate for sure be the first to walk in the shop. There are few types of 'balls' to choose, we ordered for a combinatios. Hand made balls do taste more chewy and bouncy though. fish ball soup & pork lard rice Then I think we stopped for one or two wild boar sausages. Please, if you are there, the wild boar sausages definitely is a MUST TRY!!! Seafood BBQ is quite famous and widely available as well. We got ourselves a squid BBQ. And then, we stopped by when we saw this chunk of peanut rock. OH! Peanut ice cream! Not peanut flavor ice cream but its peanut with ice cream wrapped in popiah skin. We did try this again when we backed to Taipei yet we felt the one at 9fen was a lot more tasty. chunk of peanut wrapped with ice cream We tried plenty of food along the old street. Ho...
