Watami (Xmas lunch), Paradigm Mall

12/25 (Tue)

OK, lets have a final post before the end of the year ~

I dine at Watami during my days in Japan, I'm glad that this restaurant finally franchise itself to Malaysia. The best thing is, I finally made this makan trip happen at Christmas day. We were surprised with the crowd in Watami at 3pm, it was almost full house! Good sign I supposed. I loves the red color menu. As usual, a cold green tea and a hot one. Then we had our own sweet time flipping over the menu ... for more than 15min ... too many choices.
We were actually not very hungry (the power of grand breakfast) hence we plan to order light dishes to share. As usual, my mate likes ... ... dog food? Yes. He likes the all in one concept which serves rice and topping in one bowl. Moreover, the dish he ordered for was quite soupy. Rice + Soup = Happy Boy. With the name in the menu, of course we had no idea what will the dish be, but luckily, explanation is provided. Its a rice with chicken and assorted mushroom in broth. This will really make him happy. The dish was not too huge in portion yet its decent for both to share. The broth was very flavorful, filled with the mushroom-y taste in it.
Tappuri Kinoko Zousui
I had a small bowl and to be frank, I do enjoy this. I added a pinch of shichimi giving a slight spiciness to it. The hot stone pot does a great jobs of maintaining the food temperature. The dish was hot till the last sip.
As for me, I place an order for Hiroshima Okonomiyaki. It is actually a Japanese style pancake generally filled with cabbage and meat, or sometimes seafood. The one we had at Watami were with cabbage and prawn, I'm not too sure if there is meat. The sauce has a very close taste to takoyaki sauce, and of course not forget about katsuobushi as topping.
Hiroshima Okonomiyaki
It was my mate first try on okonomiyaki. He loves it. We shall try out the Mochi Cheese Okonomiyaki next round.
I opted for a Choco Banana in Toast Box for dessert but it was sold out! Ish! It means that I will need to visit Watami again to fulfill the desire for it. Of course, without the choco in toast box, there are still plenty of choices to go for. I got myself a Sumiyaki Coffee Jelly while my mate ordered for a Match Tiramisu, which also sold out! Ish! He changed his order to a Jikasei Milk Pudding instead.

I'm a fans of sumiyaki coffee, which is also the coffee we use at home. This coffee jelly turned out a big surprise. The white color topping is a sweet creamy milky jelly layer which is a perfect, balanced matching with the bitter coffee jelly at the bottom. Thumb up!

Sumiyaki Coffee Jelly
Jikasei Milk Pudding wasn't too bad in taste frankly. It carries a very strong milky taste. Our vote definitely go to Sumiyaki Coffee Jelly. That is a great choice for coffee lover.

Jikasei Milk Pudding
We will be back for sure, still got plenty dishes we would like to try. By the way, for those that on 'diet plan' the menu at Watami probably helps as every dish is stated clearly with calories. Yet, who bother?
