Marutama Ramen, Empire Shopping Galery

03/31 (Sun)

Marutama Ramen is one of our favourite restaurant in Empire. The thick chicken broth used here draw a clear line with other Japanese ramen chain which majority using pork broth. I marked this restaurant in my list when I spotted it was undergoing a renovation in Empire, but sadly my mate claimed that the broth is not pork based hence rejected it at first. We finally made our move to Marutama after running out of restaurants to try in Empire, where we found out the chicken broth here is so so aromatic and flavourful. It makes us return customer.

Daikon is listed under side dish section. My mate decided to order this for a try. Oh well, he is a radish freak. Anyhow, the radish turned out very delicious. I supposed it is kinda like oden? The radish was cooked soft. Again, I supposed it was boiled in daishi brooth? As I tasted a mouthful of daishi flavour at every bites. My mate make this the must order whenever he visits.
I generally stick to the simplest order from the menu, the Marutama Ramen. The dish actually serves in quite a big portion with seaweed, spring onions and a slice of roasted pork. There are actually selection of spicy and non spicy for the broth. My preference is non spicy, yet if you can take spicy I will recommend for the spicy based broth. It taste real good. Marutama Ramen didn't come with egg. I stole half of this from my mate's order. The half boiled egg here never failed us. It always serves at the perfect level.
My mate will be the one that always trying out different items in menu. He ordered for a Kakuni Tamago ramen this round. Basic toppings are same, other than my mate had a half boiled egg (which half was steal by me) and a big piece of kakuni, a stewed pork belly. Highly recommended. The thin outer layer of the pork belly was a little crispy yet the inner flesh remain tender and juicy. I personally think it is better than roasted pork.
By the way, ground staffs are well trained. Overall, we will still return whenever we craving for ramen.
