It has been a long time after my last visit to Kura. Hence, during the one month one decent meal agreement, I decided it to be this month selected place. By the way, 1U old wing still undergoing major renovation, half of the shops are still close down. Hope to see a brand new old wing by next year, plenty of interesting shops setup a branch there.
We were there around 1230pm, not much customers that time. I requested for a window seating, facing the greenish park ... ... and the jam highway. We were handed with menu, served with hot green tea and wasabi. I will say it is a perfect time to lay back, flipping menu and enjoy our lunch .... .... IF I could get rid of the noise pollution from table behind us. Hey aunties and uncles, not everyone in the restaurant interested at your story okay

Quote from my mate [I feel I am listening to a live radio show
] Okay ... I will just hypnotize myself that at least there are some story we can listen to during our meal ... lets hope it will be interesting

After a moment of flipping the menu from start to end, and from end to start, we finally made up our mind. It took roughly 20 - 30 minutes for our meals to be serve, together.
Sanshoku Don set
Anago Oshizushi and Garlic fried rice
I ordered for Sanshoku don. I loves Salmon roe, this dish is just smashed on me when I saw it on menu. It allows me to take this opportunity to let my mate taste on sea urchin as well. I have zero concern on freshness and quality in Kura, this is the main reason I dare to order dish with sea urchin and salmon roe. Both required freshness during serving. I tried salmon roe sushi at some Japanese restaurant, a mouth full taste of soy sauce. The roe was believe to soak in soy sauce to imitate the slight saltiness tasted in fresh roe.
For this bowl, no doubt, every single roe is fresh, I enjoyed "picit-ing" them in my mouth. Sea urchin is fresh, still able to see the tiny "dots" at surface. I took a nail size for my mate, well ... his chopstick came into my bowl to "korek" for more. The sushi rice at bottom is puffy and sticky. Ultimate enjoyment for me, salmon roe with sushi rice.
As for the 2 fat sticks of snow crab, I thrown them into my mate's garlic fried rice. I don't eat crab. According to him [very nice, I thought they will serve crab stick, not a real crab's stick] Ello ... served me crab stick by charging me RM48 per bowl, I am for sure going to throw the bowl on the manager's head. Oh ya, garlic fried rice is delicious too.
Anago Oshizushi
Majority of Japanese restaurants around Klang Valley sells Nigirizushi, which is the common hand formed sushi. On the other hand, Oshizushi, which known as a box sushi, a specialty from Kansai region, is rarely seen here. The way of preparing is different, where sushi master will nicely arrange the topping at the bottom of a square box, covered it with sushi rice, then press it till compact and cut into bite size pieces. I am so glad I found one to serve it here, as it is hard to find it even in Tokyo.
I admit that I don't like Unagi, so my vote goes to Anago during the choosing. We falls in love with it at the first bite. The fish is boiled to soft and fully absorb the sweet and salty sauce. As this is prepared in a pressed box, the taste of the sauce goes in sushi rice as well. No doubt, thumb up for this!
Potato Mentaiyaki
Potato Mentaiyaki listed in seasonal menu, my mate decided to order for a light tid bits bite. Luckily it is not a huge portion, a potato cut into half, baked with cheese, mayonnaise and spicy cod roe. I had a lot of roe today ... huh ...
This is another eye blinking serving. Everything is soft. You will really need to eat this small bite by small bite, slowly let the mixture of potato, cheese, mayonnaise and cod roe melted in your mouth. I feel so sinful ... ....
Nama ice cream
Another from seasonal menu, the famous Nama ice cream. It served in 2 flavors, green tea and chocolate. We were both vote for green tea flavor. Not to say the chocolate flavor not nice, it is just a preference.
